Fast fashion is one of the world's largest polluters, and it is putting our planet at risk. It accounts for around 10% of greenhouse gas emissions from human activity. More than $500 billion of value is lost every year due to clothing underutilization. Three out of five fast fashion items end up in a landfill. The list of facts goes on, and on, and on. It is important for us to come together as human beings and work in order to preserve our planet. Here are some of the steps we have taken to try and pave a brighter path towards a better future.
The fabric we used is made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon. The nylon is fabricated from waste that would otherwise be polluting the ocean, such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic. The waste is sorted and cleaned to recover as much nylon as possible. The nylon waste is then recycled right back to its original purity, which means that the regenerated nylon holds the same force and quality as your original virgin nylon.
Please also note that our 2021 swimwear collection will also be eco-friendly!
Our hang tags are handmade by us using seed paper. This special type of paper is eco-friendly and biodegradable. Each sheet of paper is infused with a combination of wildflower seeds, which means that each hang tag will grow a different flower! Once you receive your special package, follow these steps:
- Plant seed paper under 1/8" of soil.
- Water thoroughly.
- Place in a sunny corner and keep moist during germination.
- Allow up to 14 days to watch your beauties grow!
The bags we use are made from 100% recycled content, so you can ensure that no waste was created while producing these bags! These bags are a perfect size to re-use for your daily purposes. If you wish to dispose of them, simply recycle them and they will be repurposed into something useful!
Our poly mailers are also 100% recyclable, so be sure to recycle them after you receive your package!
Our fabric scraps will be repurposed when possible to tie our hang tags to our products. This avoids us from having to use wasteful string to pack each clothing item. Scraps that are large enough will also be used to make our accessories (go check out our headbands & scrunchies)! By doing this, we are reducing the amount of fabric wasted to a minimum! To dispose of your scraps, simply recycle them after receiving your package!
